It’s time, yeah, it’s time true believers, for another Not Normal update.

First things first, that beast has finally been birthed, that wretched slab of wax you’ve all been waiting to get your paws on is finally available for purchase.  Welcome To 2013, the words on the tip of every mutated tongue!

NNT#20 - Welcome To 2013 - 40 minutes of Hardcore Punk madness featuring new/exclusive tracks by Adjustment To Society, Aspirina Infantil, Big Crux, Bored Straight, Broken Prayer, Brown Sugar, Culo, Good Throb, Haute Couture, Hondartzako Hondakinak, Inservibles, NASA Space Universe, Negative Degree, Ooze, Porkeria, Tenement, and Thee Nodes and art by Amos Pitsch (Tenement), Ben Trogdon, Drugface, and Josh Davis.  Comes in two-color screen printed jackets with a twenty page booklet.

Civilization as we know it has been largely replaced by roving tribes of mutants and Not Normal sent it’s own intrepid reporters into the unknown to document the wailing, screeching caterwauling that has replaced the treacly, soothing Top-40 splendor of yesteryear and the primitive cave-drawings that have likewise usurped the proud tradition of kitsch reproduction as “art.”  What purpose have these cretinish imps?  What motivates them, beyond vile impulse? Have the last bastion of propriety and moral standards any chance of reversing these adverse affects and restoring society to its natural balance?
Doubtful.  The end is nigh.  Pick up your copy here.  Give a listen here.

If you haven’t yet, you can still get your filthy mitts on those other instant classics from Not Normal, premier purveyors of taste and slime.  Yeah, we’re talking about the Broken Prayer single, HAHA! #1, and the Menanites Demo.

NNT#019 - Broken Prayer - WOW! b/w Pull A Kaczynski - In anticipation of their soon-to-be-legendary LP on Sorry State Records, Broken Prayer wished to release a single showcasing their pop classic WOW! When BP’s frontman approached Not Normal about releasing it, he handed me two envelopes: one with the tracks and a short letter requesting that the purveyors of taste and slime Not Normal assist in releasing them and a second only to be opened if we declined said request. While I’m sure everything was on the up-and-up, I’m sincerely glad we agreed to release this one.

Broken Prayer is true weirdo music, synth-driven punk without the goofy goggles. Crucifucks/No Trend cynicism and X-Ray Spex/Devo satire permeate the entire ordeal, the guitars screech and wail and the drums are pummeled into submission. True Believers, this isn’t one to miss out on. Comes in screen printed, white-on-black dust sleeves.

Pick up your copy here.  Give a listen here.

NNT#014 - New year (or two), new name.

HA HA! Fanzine is finally here, compiling various writings from the last few years, many of which were originally intended for the oft-delayed and finally dead and buried Dead Possession #2. Contains Now Is The Now article (write-up on the top US bands and their respective scenes including: Dawn of Humans, Pukeoid, Culo, Confines, and Son Skull), record reviews, and, of course, unfounded opinions and shit talking, plus one of five possible center spreads of the above mentioned bands. 24 pgs, B&W, 8.5”x7,” punk.

Pick up your copy here.

NNT #021 - Snotty, shitheaded punk from new NWI miscreants, Menanites. Takes equal cues from old KBD comps and the legions of Indiana Mutants that came before them. 11 track demo that features both Cher and Black Randy & the Metrosquad covers. Essential.

Pick up your copy here. Give a listen here.

Plus we updated the distro with Broken Prayer and Green Beret LPs, Vaginors EPs, and much more.

Matt K wrote us a nice review:

Good Throb Good Throb 7″ (Super-Fi)
Holy crap, record of the month right here! Sadly I caught wind of Good Throb a little too late in 2012 to make my best-of lists, because this is punk rock of the highest order. Picture Pink Dirt’s vitriolic Sex Pistols impression mixed with the unfiltered anger of Crass, that Small Black Pig 7″ on Slampt and the self-confident swagger of Foams and you’re pretty close to the maniacal force that is Good Throb. Through listening to these four songs, I slowly grow self-conscious, as if Good Throb are aware of all my little hypocrisies and are going to crawl out from under my stereo and choke me unconscious. Their hatred is more real than a thousand young men in Hoax t-shirts, like Poison Girls if they skipped the art-drama and scraped at your chest with pointy fingernails. And if given the chance, Johan Kugelberg would probably dance so hard to Good Throb, his starched collar would turn yellow before the record stopped spinning. I won’t deny it, I deserve a swift kick to the crotch as much as the next guy, and I’m glad Good Throb are here to deliver it” (MK)
